Who are the Top 25 Network Marketing Companies? Well, it really depends on how you define “The Top 25…” As you might imagine, the truth can be a bit subjective. For example…
The best-selling car in the World is the Toyota Corolla . Apparently it’s a great car, and yet at the same time is probably not the car of your dreams. Which begs the question, “Does an MLM company deserve a higher ranking simply because more people are involved?” It’s a fair question. Here’s what we know for sure: Popularity is definitely one of the best ways to determine what’s going on in the marketplace. It plays a part in the movies we see, the music we download, and sometimes even where we invest our money.
So is “The Top 25…” just an online popularity contest? Not exactly. To make a fair assessment we gave consideration to things that really don’t matter; for instance, 24 of the 25 companies are members of the DSA . And to things that really do matter; like Time In Business!

Way back in the last century (1991, actually) a survey was conducted by my research firm, MarketWave, Inc., of over 6,000 people who were not, nor had ever been, business owners. The question was a simple one: If all obstacles were removed, would you like to own your own business?
In other words, if what ever was stopping you from starting a business didn’t exist, would you at least attempt it? Basically, would you prefer to be an entrepreneur, or an employee? Eighty five percent said Yes, they’d prefer to work for themselves. Which means 15% misunderstood the question on the survey.
After all, if what ever concerned you enough to not attempt a business venture didn’t exist, then you’d have no fear of doing so. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be in control of their own life? To have the freedom to make their own decisions, work their own hours, and write their own pay check?

This is Part 3 in a series of five articles[1,2,3,4,5].
Here are the nuts and bolts of one of today’s most powerful and successful MLM compensation plans–the Hybrid Uni-level. It’s important for MLM companies AND distributors to understand their compensation plan because it is the vehicle of success for both.
Note: It has become increasingly clear to me that it’s just as important for network marketing distributors to understand MLM compensation concepts as the MLM companies, themselves. Why? Because distributors invest their all into building a downline. The bottom line is if distributors understand MLM commissions, they can make better choices about the companies in which to invest their lives!
Most of the plans that are called Uni-levels today are actually Hybrid Uni-levels. In other words, the Uni-level Plan is typically the backbone and then other commissions like fast starts and/or pool bonuses are added to increase earnings. So, this plan features a level commission as the primary commission. A level commission pays the distributor a percentage on a certain number of levels of his/her downline. Some of the common additions to the level commission to create a Hybrid Uni-level include:

Because distributors invest their all into building a downline. The bottom line is if distributors understand MLM commissions, they can make better choices about the companies in which to invest their lives!
A Breakaway Compensation Plan includes very defined sales force classifications: 1) distributor and 2) sales leader, and commissions are paid very differently on each of them. A new distributor is basically considered as a pre-sales leader. When he/she advances to a designated level, he/she breaks away from his/her sponsor and forms his/her own group as a sales leader. The plan then pays this distributor, called a breakaway, a new, different type of commission. It is usually referred to as a sales leader override. His/her group volume is no longer included in his/her sponsor’s group volume. Instead, the sponsor receives breakaway volume–a smaller percentage. And, the sponsor must go out and replace this person in his/her organization.

As a network marketing industry executive and founder of a national charity for wounded veterans, I have discovered the value of combining MLM and charity. I’ve found an innovative way to help the two industries at once. After over 24 years in network marketing, I was fortunate enough to retire and start a charity. However, I soon hit a wall with fundraising due to the nature of the economy. You have to think outside the box and find new opportunities for funding, and this got me thinking about the giving and empowering nature of both the charity and network marketing industries. I started on a path to bring the two together.

In your network marketing business, how many times have you spoken to leads and they seem extremely interested, but then something happens and, poof, they are gone? Yes, they vanish into thin air! You call. You leave a message, and then another and another, but to no avail. You start asking yourself, “What did I do wrong? What should I have said, or what didn’t I say?” Maybe stuff came up in that individual’s life and/or the timing just wasn’t there. Don’t take it personally. Life does happen and timing is everything! What you do need to take personally when prospecting is your relationship with individuals. I believe the key to successful MLM prospecting is spending time to build a relationship with your leads.

There are a plethora of ways that you may market your Home Business, many of which are either free or very inexpensive. Effectively marketing your Home Business is crucial to your ultimate success. As a matter of fact, the key to growing a business, and especially a new Home Business, is marketing. One cheap, and sometimes free method for promoting your Home Business is the World Wide Web. Once you have a domain name (which can be bought for as little as $6 nowadays) and a reliable web host (as little as $7 a month for reliable one, even less for a budget host), you may get going on promoting your business online. Contrary to popular belief, this may be done for free in some cases if you are willing to spend the extra time on the project. If you are unwilling to do this, you can pay someone to optimize your site and promote it for you, which is generally cost effective. It is possible, however to promote your business online with no marketing budget at all.
